“YAWNING MAN”
AN ICONIC WORK REINTERPRETED IN CRYSTAL
With Lalique, Fang Lijun reinterprets in crystal one of his emblematic works, “Yawning Man”. This figure caught mid-yawn, both familiar and unsettling, stands as a metaphor for silent resistance, detachment from collective injunctions and the affirmation of individual authenticity.
Lalique’s master glassmakers have risen to the challenge of translating this raw and introspective expression into crystal, respecting the expressive power of the original work while bringing it a new dimension of light and depth.
EXCEPTIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP IN THE SERVICE OF ARTISTIC CREATION
The Fang Lijun x Lalique sculptures are produced using the ancestral lost-wax technique. Each piece is shaped from a unique mould, guaranteeing its singular and exclusive character.
Hot glass work, followed by meticulous cold-working – cutting, sandblasting and polishing – reveals a rich, vibrant texture in which light plays with the material. Subtle variations in colour make each work a unique creation, faithful to the spirit of Fang Lijun and to Lalique’s exacting standards of excellence.
A LIMITED-EDITION ART COLLECTION
Available in four colours, the Fang Lijun x Lalique works are issued in limited editions of 8 pieces. Each sculpture is numbered, signed and accompanied by its certificate of authenticity, affirming its status as a work of art in its own right.
In addition, a smaller-sized sculpture, manufactured in a steel mold, is available in clear crystal as a numbered edition.
Through this collaboration, Lalique Art reaffirms its vocation to foster dialogue between the arts, to push the boundaries of crystal, and to anchor contemporary creation over time.
